‘Protect non Bahraini mothers’:MP
Non Bahraini mothers of Bahraini children should be included in the government support programme after the lifting of subsidies on meat, petrol, electricity and water, stated Chairperson of Woman and Child Committee in the Parliament MP Roua Al Hayki.
“There are many women of foreign nationality, whose Bahraini husbands have either divorced them or have died, and are living with their children alone in Bahrain. Such women should be given benefits of the subsidies other Bahraini women are enjoying,” she said.
She stressed the need to protect families of non-Bahraini women, who were at some point, married to a Bahraini. “I am really concerned about the well being of the children,” she said adding, “They are our future and we must give them everything they need.” MP Roua said if this measure is not taken, such children would due to the high prices following the lifting of subsidies. “They need good food, accommodation and schooling and it is our duty to provide them with all these facilities,” she said.
