Man divorces 3 wives, accuses 4th of adultery

A Bahraini woman of Arab origin has appeared before the Lower Criminal Court facing adultery charges. The woman, in her 20s, reportedly had sex with her neighbour who she acquainted on social media, prompting her husband to file a complaint against her. Her husband, in his 40s, is said to have had three wives, but decided to divorce them to free himself for the defendant. However, his decision has backfired as his young wife wasn’t obedient and her behaviour was suspicious, according to his statement.

“She was my fourth wife, and she insisted on me divorcing the other three wives. She refused to compromise and I had to accept her demand under pressure,” the man told the public prosecution. “But her outings were a lot without my permission.

She was talking on the phone with people I didn’t know. When I return back home while she was holding the phone she would squirm,” he added.

“Then, I decided to keep tab on her, and I caught her with a man (their neighbour) inside his car. Then I decided to divorce her and I deport her back to her country. I told her family, but she obtained the Bahraini nationality, therefore I decided to sue her,” he explained.

The woman said that she decided to establish a bond with their neighbour after she had heard that he was a ‘good man’. “I searched for him on social media platforms, and I found his number. I began talking with him and he requested to meet me,” she said, denying having sex with him. “While I was with him I cried because of my husband’s treatment to me, and he only patted my shoulders to comfort me,” she claimed.
