23 get 10-year jail for rioting
Twenty-three men, accused of rioting and injuring a police officer, have been sentenced to 10 years in prison each.
The defendants had illegally gathered and attacked police officers in the village of Bani Jamra on February 2 last year.
According to court files, 50 thugs were involved in the incident, but the investigations could identify only 23.
The prosecutors said the mob hurled firebombs at the police officers, injuring an officer and damaging a police patrol.
The defendants had intended to murder the policemen by their act.
