Bahrain flies high in HK stamp expo

Bahrain Philatelic Society (BPS) participated in the 31st Asian International Stamp Exhibition, which was a four-day event held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, between November 20-23.

This international event showcased products like a wide range of stamps from all over the world.

The organisers commemorated this exhibition with commemorative envelopes and provided the commemorative postmark cancellation service on site of the exhibition.

Society’s Board Member, Head of public Relation committee Hafedh Abdulghaffar participated as the Commissioner for the Bahraini participants in the event.

He introduced Bahrain Post history booklets during this international expo.

The Bahraini Exhibitors were as followed: Dr Khaled Qasem Behzad (Flowers), Khaled Ali Darweesh (Revenue stamps history in Bahrain from 1924 to 1992);  Jassim Khaled Behzad (Short history of Bahrain Aerogram postal stationary); Ali Salem Musaed (Commercial Postal between Bahrain and India (King George VI); and Abdul Hameed Sultan (The start of air mail services in the world).

To commemorate this major international philatelic event, Hong Kong Post issued a series of three stamp sheets printed in lithography plus hot foil stamping on the theme of (Shopping and Dining) to highlight the charms of Hong Kong as a shoppers’ paradise and a culinary treasure trove.

The ‘Hong Kong 2015 -- 31st Asian International Stamp Exhibition’ stamp booklet was also released for sale. 

This stamp booklet contained the complete series of the three stamp sheets printed in lithography.

Bahrain Philatelic Society also took part on the third Regional Stamps Exhibition in Cairo, Egypt, between December 31, 2015, and January 4, 2016, in which the Bahraini participants were awarded one Silver and two Bronze medals.
