Two in the dock for forcing housemaid into prostitution

Two Asian nationals appeared yesterday in the dock facing human trafficking charges.

The pair allegedly hired a fugitive maid and forced her into prostitution.

However, both the accused pleaded not guilty before a remand judge.

They were arrested after a civilian tipped off the police about the alleged crime committed by the accused.

When police officers arrived, the door of the apartment was locked. When they knocked on the door, they heard the victim screaming for help, according to court files.

She was evacuated, while sex tools were seized from the place.

“I decided to flee from my sponsor’s house and go to the company that brought me to Bahrain A man offered to transport me, but instead, he took me to an apartment and he sold me to them (the defendants),” the victim told prosecutors.

“They locked me inside an apartment and allowed strangers to have sex with me in return for money,” she added.

The court yesterday decided to adjourn the trial until February to summon the victim to testify.

The defendants are currently in police custody.
