Instructors urge Ministry to double driving lesson fees

Bahraini driving instructors are demanding to double the current fee of the driving lessons.

The current charge is BD5 per hour, but instructors are appealing to the Ministry of Interior to increase it to BD10 per hour, according to sources.

An instructor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that his colleagues are using the recent increase in the fuel prices as an argument to support their demand.

“The conductors wrote a letter to the Ministry of Interior, requesting them to review the current fees,” he said.

“They wrote that the current fuel prices have negatively impacted their income, so an increase in the hourly fee is the only solution,” the source added.

It’s believed that the concerned authorities are contemplating the idea of decreasing the number of the required lessons to get the license following the decision to allow trainees to use cars with automatic transmission.

“The trainees won’t be affected by the increase of the fees, since the number of lessons might be reduced,” he explained.
