Influx to Bahrain at 291,840
The Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Search & Follow-up at the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports & Residence said yesterday that 291,840 people had entered Bahrain between January 14 and January 20.
He explained that 232,143 arrived from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries via King Fahad Causeway, 55,031 arrived through Bahrain International Airport and 4,666 through seaports.
The 25-kilometre long King Fahad Causeway, the terrestrial link between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, was opened on November 26, 1986. It has been used by millions of travellers, making it one of the busiest traffic areas in the Arab world.
