BOC boost to Arab Women Games

Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa said Bahrain’s participation at the Third Arab Women Sports Tournament is in line with the directives of His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The tournament takes place from February 2 to 13 in Sharjah, UAE and organised by Sharjah Women’s Club under the patronage of HH Shaikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs there.

Shaikha Hayat, who is also chairwoman of the Woman’s Sports Committee, said Shaikh Nasser’s directives aim to promote the kingdom’s reputation in international events and to contribute to support joint Arab programmes in all areas, including sports.

Shaikha Hayat said, “Women’s sport has achieved tremendous successes in the Kingdom as our heroes succeeded in bringing off a series of outstanding results and achievements at all levels. We look forward to the Third Arab Women Sports Tournament Games in Sharjah and boost the experience and accomplishments made by women’s sports over the past years thanks to the support of Shaikh Nasser.”

Shaikha Hayat also commended the support offered by Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Hisham bin Mohammed Al Jowder to national sports clubs, which granted them an honorable participation in regional championships.

She also noted the significant efforts and contributions of the BOC General Secretary Abdulrahman Askar to the women’s sports committee, tasked at preparing national women’s teams for such competitions and wished participants every success.
