Bid to smuggle electronic cigarettes foiled
An attempt to smuggle electronic cigarettes into the country was foiled recently. Customs President Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa stated yesterday that “Customs officers foiled an attempt to smuggle electronic cigarettes into the Kingdom at Khalifa bin Salman Seaport.”
According to him, “the items were imported in a container coming from an Asian country.”
“The container consisted of 684 bags, 999 chargers, 698 wires, 903 filters, 100 pieces of electronic tobacco and 185 batteries. The container was also shipping household items, phone and car accessories and chargers, in addition to dismantled electronic cigarettes,” Shaikh Mohammed explained.
The official added that the Customs Directorate is keen on preventing banned products from entering the country.
