Bahrain host biggest GCC human rights event today
The biggest human rights event in the region will be held in Bahrain today under the patronage of the Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Mulla.
The second GCC Human Rights Conference will begin today under the theme “A Human Rights System and National, Regional and International Challenges.”
The event is co-organised by Maan Human Rights Organisation and the Arab Federation for Human Rights, in coordination with the International-GCC Human Rights Organisation.
The conference will discuss the human rights situations in GCC countries and the region. The organisers have stated that the conference would be neutral and will not follow any political, intellectual and sectarian agendas.
A large number of representatives form regional human rights organisations and establishments, including the General Secretariat of GCC States, The Arab League, NGOs and other establishments.
Arab Federation for Human Rights General Secretary Isa Rashid Al Arabi said the conference seeks creating partnership between regional organisations, governments and establishments in the field of human rights.
He stated that the conference would be the cornerstone of a joint GCC and regional cooperation in human rights cases, adding that several recommendations are expected to be announced by the conclusion of the event.
“The conference will focus on the system of human rights in GCC states and national, regional and international challenges faced in the field of human rights,” Al Arabi added.
