Taiwanese firm to invest in Bahrain : BIAS impact
Overwhelmed by the success of the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) 2016, a prominent Taiwanese company, AmJet-u Tech Co., will look for investment opportunities in Bahrain. The firm has already started working on the feasibility plan. It is one of the leading companies of Taiwan that develops, manufactures and sells the defence technology and weapons. The main reason behind the decision of opening its manufacturing unit in Bahrain is the cheap labour cost and business friendly environment in the Kingdom.
AmJet-u Tech Co. is one of the five companies from Taiwan exhibiting at the BIAS 2016. The other companies are National Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology, Ray Ching Industrial Corp. U-Cheer Technology Corp., and Yield Technology Co. Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), which assists the Taiwanese entrepreneurs in foreign markets, is leading the 19-member delegation from Taiwan. Participating in the BIAS for the first time, Taiwanese companies have displayed a wide range of highly sophisticated products, including target drones, surveillance equipment, UAVs, models of weapon systems, autopilot systems, jets for target training, GPS tracking equipment, quad-rotor helicopters, combustion and case lines, exhaust systems, stators, shrouds, shields and airplane models.
Speaking to DT News, Representative of Taiwan’s Trade Mission to Bahrain Michael T. Chen said they were satisfied by the milieu of the airshow. “We would be coming back two years later to participate in this wonderful event again.” Head of the Taiwanese delegation and President of National Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology Chang Guan Chun remarked that they had developed all of their systems from scratch to the advanced technology on their own unlike other countries that get engine from one place and other equipment from another.
According to him, they could easily develop the whole systems in Bahrain. “We can give all the assistance required for this purpose and even the logistical support,” he said while referring to joint ventures. “We have planned meetings with the potential clients and hope for the best.”
He informed that their equipment was tested in accordance with the US standards and they had already supplied that to their own military, which was using them successfully. He said that their drones with inbuilt cameras could be used for surveillance purposes.
Meanwhile, MP Isa Al Kooheji said that Bahrain should keep on arranging events like the airshow as they are good for the economy and also for the promotion of the image of Bahrain at the international level.
More than 128 companies from 34 countries are taking part in the Airshow, being held from January 21 to 23 at Sakhir Airbase, which remains open from 8 am to 6 pm. “It is a very impressive airshow and I like it,” said John from US Navy. Andy Williams, Executive Director of Eskan, a British company, said that they were in BIAS to show some of their latest surveillance equipment.
