Passenger Loading Bridges Commissioned for BIA New Passenger Terminal
The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) in cooperation with Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) signed an agreement today with Shenzhen CIMC TIANDA Airport Support LTD to design, manufacture, supply and install 25 passenger loading bridges in the new terminal.
These state-of-the-art bridges will be constructed with glass walls to allow passengers to appreciate the unique architecture of BIA’s new passenger terminal and see their aircraft as they board.
The signing ceremony, held during Bahrain International Airshow 2016 was attended by His Excellency Engineer Kamal Bin Ahmed Mohammed the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications as well as Mr. Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Airport Company and Mr. Wei Long Senior Area Manager for MENA and Turkey at Shenzhen CIMC TIANDA Airport Support LTD.
Welcoming the signing ceremony, His Excellency the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications said: "I am pleased to sign this BD4,429,730/- (US $ 11,738,789) agreement with Shenzhen CIMC TIANDA Airport Support LTD for the proposed installation of passenger loading bridges at BIA’s new passenger terminal to enhance the airport’s operations and travel experience. The project is expected to be completed by 2020 to coincide with the completion of the terminal, resulting in an increase in aircraft stands and proportion of flights disembarking directly into the new Terminal."
Chief Executive Officer of BAC Mr. Mohamed Yousif AlBinfalah confirmed in his remarks that: "We are proud to collaborate with Shenzhen CIMC TIANDA Airport Support. With the award of this package, , we maintain our commitment towards operational efficiency and service excellence, the new bridges will not only provide comfort, and safe walkway between terminal and aircrafts; but they will also be designed to create a welcoming ambience for the Kingdom’s passengers."
Shenzhen CIMC-TianDa Airport Support is a Chinese based company specialized in designing and manufacturing airport equipment such as Passenger Boarding Bridge and Cargo Handling System amongst other services.
