‘Cheating’ wife gets two years in jail
The High Criminal Court has sentenced a 33-year-old Arab wife for having sex with a 25-year-old Bahraini man, to two years behind bars. The accused, who was married to a 39-year-old Arab man, reportedly fled from their home and rented an apartment in Juffair.
She left her little daughters behind, and was living with the 25-year-old man, according to court files. The defendant was reported to police by her husband, who accused her of adultery.
He told police that his wife had already fled seven times earlier. During interrogation, the woman admitted to having relationship with the 25-year-old, and confirmed having sex with him. But she claimed that her husband had already divorced her after he kicked her out their house, and their divorce lawsuit being heard at the High Shariat Court (Jaffari Department).
However, the High Criminal Court stated in its ruling that the case’s paperwork lacked any document confirming that the duo had been divorced, and thus their marriage was still valid.
