Forgery: Asian man gets jail

A 44-year-old Asian national, who tried to swap a forged Saudi driving licence with a Bahraini one has been sentenced to three years in jail. The accused will be deported as soon as he completes his jail term. He was tried by the High Criminal Court after the Public Prosecution charged him with forgery.

The accused reportedly filed an application at the General Directorate of Traffic, to obtain a Bahraini driving license, attaching with the document that he had claimed to be a Saudi driving licence belonging to him.

The Bahraini driving licence was issued to him but he was caught later after the Bahraini authorities received a tip-off from their Saudi counterparts, who found the driving licence to be fake.
