They ‘knitted’ together a Guinness World Record

Indian women all over the world have proved their organisational skills, teamwork and talent by entering the Guinness World Record by knitting the largest crochet blanket in the world in Chennai, India yesterday.    

Mother India’s Crochet Queens (MICQ), spearheaded by Subashri Natarajan in Chennai, comprising nearly 1,000 Indian women from India and other countries including Bahrain, won the Guinness World Record for the biggest crochet blanket in the world, that stands at 11148 square meters. 

Subashri Natarajan received the Guinness certificate from the certificate adjudicator from Guinness Records,  Pravin Patel. It was Subashri Natarajan, who did a great job   by collecting so many Indian women across the globe and inspiring to make this dream of an unbeatable record come true. Expats from Bahrain also joined the MICQ movement and contributed 130 blankets from Bahrain.  

The largest crochet blanket in the world was displayed at MNM Jain Engineering College, Chennai, India yesterday in the presence of MICQ representatives from all over the world. 

Bahrain coordinator Anu Venugopal and eight other expat women represented Bahrain to witness the glorious achievement in Chennai yesterday. 

“The empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description. Those who have been part of this great achievement are not only empowered, but also beautiful at heart. Everyone must be feeling really special and privileged. Subashri had bought in all talented and creative hands together,” commented Rakhee Sibo, who was part of the MICQ movement for charity on Facebook.
