Abduction of duo: Final arguments on March 8
Closing arguments will be heard on March 8 in the trial of three Bahraini men accused of kidnapping two fellow countrymen. The trio, aged 27, 29 and 40, reportedly abducted the two men following an argument over an illegal drug trade deal, according to court files.
One of the kidnapped men allegedly pocketed BD2200 paid by one of the trio, who were looking to buy a large quantity of hashish from him.
He allegedly procrastinated handing over of the drugs to him, prompting the trio to abduct him with his friend, who was at that time with him when the defendants approached him.
The duo were kept in a Sanad stable for one night, where they had been reportedly menaced by a surly dog.
“They told me if I want to go home I have to contact one of my relatives to make arrangements to hand them over the money back,” the victim involved in the drug deal told prosecutors. “I contacted my brother, and they asked him to meet them near Sitra Mall to give them the money,” he added.
It’s said that his brother reported the kidnap incident to the police, who planned an ambush to arrest the alleged captors while receiving the money. However, it’s said that the trio didn’t show up because ‘they felt’ that they were being surveyed by the police.
They were eventually nabbed after the alleged victims were released from their captivity and informed police about their whereabouts, according to court files.
