Transportation minister visits Postal Museum
Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed visited key post facilities to check on progress, including the Postal Museum, the Manama Post Office at Bab Al Bahrain and Bahrain Mall Post Office.
He was accompanied by Assistant Undersecretary for Postal Affairs Shaikh Bader bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and ShaikhaAzzahbint Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Directorate of Culture and National Heritage at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) who gave His Excellency the Minister a full brief of the progress for the Postal Museum and Manama Post projects which are being implemented in collaboration with BACA.
The Minister of Transportationand Telecommunications highlighted the important role played by BACA, whose support in the Bahrain Post projects has been critical.
"Bahrain Post Museum provides a visual narrative on the evolution of the postal services of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its progress through different eras with archival records and exhibitions, and is a trailblazing project bringing the importance of the sector into the limelight," he said.
He also paid tribute to Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of BACA for her ongoing cooperation and valuable role in the revitalization and restoration of Bab Al Bahrain District, the Post Museum and Manama Post, which is currently under restoration.
He praised Bahrain Post for conserving Bahrain’s cultural heritage with stamps, documents and materials which chronicle the history of the Kingdom of Bahrain. His Excellency voiced his hope that the Museum would become a focal point for more visitors and tourists.
The minister also visited Bahrain Mall post office to check progress of the new premises. He met with the Postal staff, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s keenness in providing quality services to customers. The new Bahrain Mall Post Office is scheduled to be completed and inaugurated in April 2016.
