MoI, mosques join hands to keep tab on security

Manama

The Interior Ministry (MoI) is coordinating with all the mosques in Bahrain to ensure safety and stability in the Kingdom, revealed Information Affairs Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi here yesterday.

Addressing the media after the weekly Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa in the presence of Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Minister said that the Bahraini society would not endorse any kind of sectarianism.

He added that the Cabinet had condemned the recent bombing in the Saudi Arabian city of Dammam, where a mosque was attacked by a suicide bomber on Friday, killing four people, including the bomber.

“The Cabinet also emphasized its support to Saudi government and rejected the extremist theories propagated by some groups,” the Information Affairs Minister said.

Commenting on the request of Jafaria mosques to ensure security around worship places, he said that cooperation had been achieved between MoI and Jafaria mosques to ensure security in the region.

“We are keen to protect our society. Unity and forgiveness are the basic foundations of Bahraini society. There has always been good understanding among all segments of the society,” he said.

Meanwhile, he warned that strict action would be taken against the violators of law. Stating that the government had been monitoring the media keenly, he called the media houses of the Kingdom to promote the values of coexistence and peace.
