The World on your Plate

Every month a theme is chosen and the cuisine of that country is the focus

Manama--

A passage through the cuisines of the world can be a delightful journey of flavours, new ingredients, and unique cooking styles. It can delight your senses and give your favourite food an interesting and delicious lift.

This was well proved at the Jawad Supermarket last Tuesday when French chef Alexandra Mariot demonstrated the art of Italian cooking.

The masterclass was also attended by Romina Vecchi, wife of the Italian Ambassador to Bahrain.

Every month a theme is chosen and the cuisine of that country is the focus, with a city or a region highlighted each week.

As the brand ambassador of Jawad Supermarket, she holds free cooking classes every Tuesday from 10am to 12 noon, and from 6pm to 8pm at the The Jawad Dome, Barbar – Budaiya Highway branch of the supermarket.

“We started with UK, throwing spotlight on England, Scotland and Wales and people were very happy,” says Alexandra. “For me, it’s a great thing as I am really enjoying doing this. Cooking is my passion and not just work.”

All through the month of May the theme has been Italian. June will have a Ramadan theme where she will give classes on Arabic food, teaching how to prepare various combinations of dishes. During Ramadan, there will be one class at 10pm. Every week Alexandra shares three special recipes, for an appetiser, a main course and a dessert in the morning, and a new set of three for the evening.

The classes are designed for anyone who is interested, whether a cooking enthusiast or someone looking to beef up their cooking skills or a novice. The event is also a perfect showcase for Jawad Supermarket’s unique products, giving customers an opportunity to learn more about how to make the best use of what is available.

All dishes are cooked live in front of the audience and people attending the class also get to taste the food at the end of each session.
