Manslaughter: Jail term of customs captain upheld

customs captain has had his six-month in jail upheld in a manslaughter case. The defendant is said to have caused the death of a woman after deliberately causing a road accident.

He is said to have used the brake pedals unnecessarily, just to make the car behind him crash his vehicle following a lane dispute.

The vehicle crashed his car, but also other cars later got involved in the accident.

The 39-year-old victim died on the spot and two other women got injured. The defendant had been charged with causing the death of the woman, and injuring the other two women, using brakes unnecessarily and damaging vehicles. He was earlier granted BD500 bail.
