Two jailed for hiding fugitives
The High Criminal Court yesterday sentenced two Bahrainis to two years in prison for hiding fugitives.
The convicts, aged 21 and 43, have allegedly sheltered four Bahraini fugitives in a house in Nabih Saleh village.
The duo confessed to provide a safe haven for the wanted criminals after one of them contacted them.
“They (the fugitives), who were wanted by the police in connection with security cases, requested us to provide a place to stay. We allowed them to stay and covered their needs including food,” the 21-year-old told prosecutors.
The 43-year-old man was said to have been providing the financial support to his co-defendant who was covering needs of the fugitives.
“He has been giving me the money on a weekly basis as I was jobless and couldn’t provide them with support,” added the 21-year-old.
