GCC joint action to boost cooperation

The Undersecretaries of the GCC Ministries of Finance discussed the economic aspects of the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on strengthening the GCC joint action.

The vision was discussed during their 49th exceptional meeting, held on Wednesday in Riyadh and attended by Aref S. Khamis, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance.

It involves further coordination between the GCC member states in all fields, in order to consolidate the group’s role in Arabic, Islamic and international spheres.

Topics reviewed in this context included phasing up the launch of the judicial economic authority, as well as means of overcoming obstacles hindering the progress of the Gulf Common Market.

One of the economic priorities highlighted in the vision of King Salman, and also discussed during the meeting, was the need to put all Gulf authorities and organizations under the umbrella of the GCC secretariat, and the supervision of the Ministerial Council and specialised ministerial committees. The move aims at averting duplication, rationalising expenditure and ensuring the consistency of Gulf bodies, and their compliance with the GCC charter.
