King Fahd Causeway expansion on track

Expansion works at the Saudi side of King Fahd Causeway have been initiated, revealed Saudi Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Dr. Abdulla Al Alshaikh yesterday.

Explaining several issues on the delay in the expansion, Dr. Al Alshaikh said, “There were some difficulties in relation to electrical cables which were not accepted by the King Fahd Causeway General Organisation. Another issue was on the Bahraini side, as the water was proven to be too shallow to accommodate additional construction works.”

Speaking to the reporters from the Saudi Eastern Province at the embassy here recently, he also revealed that another environmental problem faced the expansion project. “It was related to the stagnant water in the site and a specialised firm in the environmental matter has been assigned to study the issue.”

“I was informed by the Bahraini Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa that the recommendations of the firm would be announced soon. He also assured of permanent solutions.”

The envoy shared with the media persons the deep-rooted relations between the Kingdoms and the latest developments of mutual projects.
