Murder case to be heard on March 10

The closing arguments in the trial of 35-year-old Bahraini man accused in connection with murder of his friend will be heard on March 10.

The accused had allegedly murdered the man by hitting him with a metal rode following a dispute over stolen spare parts from a neighbouring stable, said the court documents.

The deceased, who has been living in a separate room in his family house in Al Musalla village, was an alcoholic. His brother found him lying on the floor of his room and apparently thought he was drunk and taking a nap.

“I went and checked on my brother after hearing a noise from his room. But when I saw him lying on the floor I thought he was drunk,” the victim’s brother said in his statement.

“However, the next day when I found him lying motionless in the same position, I called the up police and the ambulance,” he added.

Forensic report confirmed that the victim was struck with a physical object on his head and concluded that he died of internal bleeding and skull fractures.

An eyewitness stated that he saw the accused attacking the victim in a stable.

“I was passing by the stable when I saw him (the defendant) assaulting the victim,” the eyewitness said in his statement. “He carried a metal rod and hit the latter on his head and body,” he added.

Though the accused has admitted to arguing with the victim, he denied killing
him.

According to the defendant’s statement, he attacked the victim and two others after finding out that they stole spare parts from the neighbouring stable.

“I attacked them in order to force them to divulge if they were responsible for the robbery. But later I took him (the victim) to his house and he was fine,” the accused claimed.
