Shooting in Sanabis village: Court rejects suspect’s appeal
An appeals court has rejected the petition by a terrorist, who was charged in connection with a shooting case in Sanabis village.
The High Criminal Court earlier sentenced the accused to 10 years in prison and the verdict was upheld by the appeals court.
The accused is part of the terrorist organisation Saraya Al Ashtar and was one of the 10 suspects, who caused mayhem in Sanabis by burning tyres on a public road.
Though the police officers arrived at the crime scene, the culprits managed to escape after firing three or four shots at the policemen. The detectives have later found that the defendant was the one who used the arm. He confessed that the gun was bought from a Saudi national for BD350.
“When police officers fired tear gas canisters, I fired four shots back,” he stated.
However, none of the police officers or civilians were injured in the shooting incident.
The accused was earlier found guilty in connection with a security case with the High Criminal Court sentencing him to 15 years in prison.
