Spate of attacks on schools by vandals
Several schools across Bahrain were attacked by vandals last weekend.
Attackers stormed a school in Manama and burnt the national flag, before fleeing the scene.
Education Ministry condemned the “cowardly act” that occurred in Al Alaa Al Hadhrami Elementary Boys School, which is located across the road from Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) in Seqaya.
In a statement, the Ministry explained that the intruders also damaged several properties in the school, without giving any respect to the sanctity of the campus.
In a separate incident, unknown people pelted stones at Aali Elementary Girls School this weekend, breaking the windows of a classroom there.
The Ministry’s Public Relations and Media Directorate also informed that a similar attack was reported at Saar Elementary Girls’ School in the Northern Governorate.
“Such criminal activities that target educational institutions are highly condemned. They’re planned accordingly with the beginning of the second semester and the return of students to schools from the spring break,” the Directorate said in a statement.
Public schools’ students will return to schools on Sunday, coming from a few weeks spring break that comes between the first and second semesters of the school year.
