TRA publishes QoS report

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has released its fourth quarter  2015 Broadband analysis report detailing the quality of services offered by licenced Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Bahrain.

TRA has used 8Mbps Fixed Broadband and unlimited fixed wireless test lines for the benchmarking.

According to the report, the average HTTP download speed for the quarter has reached 10.8Mbps.

“The report is in line with the Authority’s strategy to foster market competition and transparency, which will continually be published on a quarterly basis to further empower consumer decisions,”  said TRA’s Director of Technical & Operations, Mohammed Alnoaimi.

The Authority also said it has resumed publishing the quarterly Broadband Quality of Service (QoS) report with further enhancements and new introductions such as mobile voice and data testing, Over The Top (OTT) application testing and business broadband
testing. Besides, a consumer web portal has been developed by  the authority to allow monitoring the ISPs performance independently.  The QoS Consumer web portal can be accessed through https://qos.tra.org.bh/.

The full report can be viewed on the newly introduced consumer web portal or at the Authority’s website at www.tra.bh/en/media/quality-of-service/
