BTV second most watched channel

Bahrain Television (BTV) is the second most watched channel in Bahrain, found a survey.

As part of constant efforts being continually undertaken by the Ministry of Information and Parliament Affairs to poll the public opinion and maintain the links between the public and official media, an international company has published a detailed report after polling the opinion of the Bahraini and Arab public about radio and television programmes.

BTV viewers include citizens and residents and is only 3% behind the top most channel, according to the study.

The report indicated that 84.7% of the viewers followed TV of their own choice and selection, meanwhile, the age of most TV programmes followers generally was in the range between 15 and 24 years.

The Acting Director of Bahrain TV, Yousef Mohammed, said this study helps decision-makers in the formulation of periodic programmes map, in addition to setting future strategic plans for the type of TV programmes preferred by Bahraini and Arab viewers in Bahrain. Mohammed said the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) has always been keen on conducting such studies that contribute to tracking latest developments in terms of competition and statistic figures in comparison with other Gulf channels, and also contribute in the continual development and enhancement of the quality of programmes content in Bahrain TV (BTV) channel. 

Also, the director of Public and Media Relations, Abdullah Bu Hijji, said the Information Affairs Authority has always been keen on doing self-assessment of the programmes transmitted over radio and television, via specialized firms, aimed to relay the overall picture, and help identify the commercial, marketing opportunities available for the official TV in contrast with other television channels.
