UoB holds graduation ceremony

 In delegation of Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Minister of Education and Higher Education Council Chairman Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi attended the 22nd graduation ceremony of the University of Bahrain here yesterday.

 More than 3400 graduate students from all colleges appeared in Shaikh Abdulaziz Hall in the Sakhair campus of University of Bahrain for the ceremony.

 The graduation ceremony began with the national anthem and verses from the Holy Quran. The Minister of Education praised the educational progress with the support of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, President of University of Bahrain, HRH the Prime Minister and Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

He also reviewed the National Strategy for scientific research to improve higher education academically, professionally to strengthen research capabilities of universities.

The Minister noted the developments made in the University of Bahrain, particularly the Board of Trustees decision to re-structure and consolidate of a number of colleges and centers, as well as developing new programs in colleges to benefit from international expertise.There are currently 495 current postgraduate students and 87 students that completed the program in the last 3 years.

Dean of Postgraduate studies, Huda Hasan Al Khaja praised those postgraduate students who deserved their achievements in master’s degree and doctorate degree.

University of Bahrain has reached a prestigious status in regional academia and universities, graduate student Abduljabbar Al Tayed gave a speech on behalf of his fellow students expressed pride of the graduate students who are the emblem of academic achievement and engine for the building of the nation, with thanks to the efforts of their teachers and professors who never ceased to perform their duty.

Education Minister honoured the graduate students and distributed academic excellence awards.

The ceremony was attended by Hisham Al Jowder, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, President of University of Bahrain, and members of the academic and administrative bodiesThe graduation ceremony will go on until June 4 with one session in the morning and the other in the evening.
