BIGS to be held from Feb 25- 28

Nature lovers, get ready for Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) -the biggest flower, lifestyle and garden show of Bahrain.

The show, held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, will be held from February 25 to 28, National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) confirmed to the DT News yesterday.

Wife of His Majesty the King and Supreme Council for Women Chairwoman HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, who is also the President of Consultative Council of NIAD, will inaugurate the garden show on February 24, while it will be opened to the public from February 25 from 10am to 9pm. Speaking to DT News, NIAD official Mai Alghatam said that last year, the 4-day garden show attracted over 32,000 visitors and this year they were expecting more visitors.

She said that a large number of exhibitors from Bahrain as well as other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the world would have their exhibits at the show.

“Small Bahraini farmers from Budaiya will also have their exhibits at the show and it will be a great attraction for the people to come and buy fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables during the show,” says Alghatam.

The garden show is being organised successfully for the last 46 years. This year’s garden show will be held under the theme “Tree Care”.

Many workshops will also be held to spread awareness about planting trees and the importance of keeping Bahrain green.

With this show, NIAD also aims to attract big investments in the agriculture sector.

NIAD will disclose the details about the exhibitors at a press conference in the Convention Centre on Monday at 10.30am.
