Missing British woman found
Manama
The British woman who was missing since last week has been found in a hospital yesterday, hours after her son arrived in Bahrain.
Ayden Appleton, the son of Christine Gutteridge, a Saudi-based British woman who has reportedly gone missing during her Bahrain visit last week, flew from Bahrain yesterday morning to look for his missing mother.
Family members of the woman told DT News thatAyden was reunited with Ms Gutteridge by a police man soon after he began a search mission along with his friend Adam. Christine Appleton, also known as Christine Gutteridge, had been reported missing since last Wednesday. She was reportedly admitted to Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) yesterday morning.
According to Christine’s older son Courtney Appleton, Ayden was informed by the police that his mother was admitted at a hospital. “A policeman phoned him and told that she was admitted to a hospital this morning, he went to the hospital and found her,” he said. Christine is not suffering from any injuries or any serious health issues, Courtney said.
Ayden said that he came to Bahrain to conduct the search “the old fashion way”. He reached Bahrain yesterday morning, after stopping in Qatar for a connecting flight. Ayden began his search by vising hotels in Bahrain and as well as other places Christine might have visited.
He told DT News that the first point of search was the Movenpick hotel, where Christine was last reportedly seen. Ayden was unavailable for further comments last night.
Since she came to Bahrain, Christine was reportedly admitted to a hospital twice, and had checked out of Movenpick hotel in Muharraq last Wednesday.
According to her family members, she has not used her social media accounts and has not contacted anyone since then. “She has not responded to messages, she kept away from social media and her phone is switched off,” Courtney Appleton said. Further comments from Christine and her family are expected today.
Lucie Blackman Trust, the organization that first reported Christine’s case, also confirmed that she was located. “A huge thank you for the massive support from everyone who shared Christine Gutteridge’s appeal. We are pleased to say she has been located,” the Trust stated.
