3 Indian fishermen missing in Bahrain

Three Indian expat fishermen in Bahrain who went for fishing last Tuesday are missing along with the boat off Sitra coast, it has emerged.

The boat caption Justine (40) fishermen Pichai(30)and Tamil Maran (25) are still missing, adding to the agony of relatives here in Bahrain and India.

Tamil Maran’s father Mayavan told DT News that he received a phone call on Thursday night from his son saying that the boat engine broke down and after that there was no information about him.

Hundreds of fishermen are still waiting to get some information about the missing people at the Sitra port. Bahrain is facing an inclement weather with coast guard warning fishermen of taking precautions while fishing.

The Meteorological Directorate also warned of strong northwesterly winds at first and urged the public to take precaution. The Meteorological Directorate forecast a relatively cold weather today with rising sand in some areas.

Northwesterly winds range from 12 to 17 knots, reaching 18 to 23 knots at first and subsiding to 7 to 12 knots at night.

Maximum temperature is 20 degrees Celsius and minimum is 13 degrees Celsius, while maximum relative humidity is 80% and minimum is 40%.

Sea waves rise from 1 foot to 3 feet inshore and from 3 to 6 feet offshore.
