Manama

The best thing about being a DJ is making people happy on the floor. There is nothing like seeing people get up from a table to dance or the expression on their face when they hear a song they love. Being a DJ requires a great level of attention on details. It takes a lot of their time to combine so many little pieces together which will make a song that works. It requires a lot of patience, diligence and resilience.

Meet Mohammed Almuharraqi, a Bahraini International DJ and Producer,   (popularly known as VJ MP3).  He was rated as one of the Top DJs in Middle East and has played all over the Middle East in the top Clubs and Festivals. He is also the Winner of Bahrain Top DJ 2012, 2nd Winner of Philips Middle East DJ Championship 2015 and 3rd Winner of Pioneer Middle East DJ Championship 2012. DT News has interacted with this young talent, who started his deejaying when he was 13 years old. Here are the excerpts. Read through.

·     What motivated you to become a DJ and where did you learn your skills from?

It is the love of music and my bigger brother DJ JACKSON who took me into the field of DJing world. I then started learning myself and tried to be creative by acquiring the skills of mixing and making good music.

·     What kind of music are you listening to now and your favorite musicians and songs?

Well, I love and respect all genres of music but I love the genres Chill House and Electronic House Music. To name some of them, I like those of Axwell Ʌ Ingrosso, Chuckie, Robin Schulz, Green Velvet, Armin Van Buuren.

·     Do you think that "deejay world" is men's world? In your opinion is it harder for girl to become a successful deejay?

The Deejaying world is open for those belong to all ages and genders. I believe that the marketing strategy and music selection are what make them famous. A DJ is an artist just like a singer, an instrument player. So, it has nothing to do with being male or female.

·     The coolest place where you have worked and what style of music you were playing?

The coolest was N'Dulge Club Atlantis in Dubai and Ibrida Nightclub in Bahrain. I was playing a mix of Electronic House Music and some of my own Mashups.

·     Your Goal in future and what makes you different from others?

I am planning to release a video clip in the near future, may be within a couple of months. My goal is to give Bahrain a space in international the DJ Map. I will be moving to Canada next year to focus on my music career and production.  I dream to be in the list of World top 10 Djs.

·     How would you define your “style” and what do you do to motivate the crowd if nobody is dancing?

I give all my energy together when I go on stage. I change the music from one genre to another until I get everyone to the dance floor. As we all know Djing is about making everyone dance and every person have his own choice of music so you have to do all that makes them all happy.

·     What piece of software and hardware could you not live without? Is there too much choice in the music technology market these days?

I can't live without my Laptop. Because all my software, music production plugins and my music are organized on my Rekordbox "DJing Software". Music technology nowadays made music life easier to all the music producers and Djs. Now you can make a full song without any real music instrumental. All what you need is a Production Software like FL Studio, Ableton live, Logic studio, Cubase.
