Suspects jailed for five years
Northern Governorate Chief Prosecutor Mohammed Salah has affirmed that the High Criminal Court today handed down five-year jail terms for two suspects in two different cases.
Court documents show that the Public Prosecution had charged the two defendants, in two different cases, with deliberately disseminating false news and rumours and spreading tendentious allegations at the time of war with the aim of harming the military operations carried out by the Armed Forces.
The court relied on evidence from the suspects' posts on social media networks in which they defamed the coalition carrying out military operations in Yemen, and insulted the servicemen who lost their lives while participating in it.
The seized items were confiscated and the verdict will be published in a newspaper at the expenses of the convicted.
