Noisy vehicles, Beware!

Manama : The traffic authorities yesterday warned drivers of noisy vehicles of strict procedures.

Traffic General Director Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa specifically mentioned in a press statement issued yesterday that the drivers
who disturb the public by installing loud muffler systems to their vehicles will have to face disciplinary procedures.

Shaikh Nasser said the General Directorate of Traffic recently detected 236 of such violations.

The General Director said that in line with the increasing complaints received by the directorate about noisy vehicles, all traffic police patrols were instructed
to intensify their presence on all major roads in the Kingdom.

The General Director said this contributed in the detection of violators and taking the necessary legal procedures against them.

He called upon drivers to commit to traffic rules and regulations to avoid being subjected to legal accountability and urged the public to report such wrong traffic behaviours.

Some drivers install noisy muffler systems to their cars, so it would make loud racing-car-like sounds. This is illegal in the Kingdom and drivers are usually asked to remove them instantly, especially, when they are caught in residential areas.

This behaviour is most common among the youth and mainly emerges during celebrations and public holidays.
