Bahrain to take part in Arab conference in Cairo

Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh will lead the Kingdom’s delegation to the first conference of the Speakers of Arab Parliaments, to be held in Cairo on February 24-25.

The Arab parliamentary conference will be held under the patronage of the Egyptian President, the current President of the Arab Summit.

The conference, which is themed “A Parliamentary Vision to Counter Challenges Currently Faced by the Arab Nations,” is organised by the Arab Parliament, in collaboration with the Arab League and the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union.

Al Saleh highlighted the importance of the conference in coming up with a parliamentary vision on ways to enhance joint Arab action and countering challenges and threats.

The Kingdom’s delegation comprises the Chairperson of the Legislative and Legal Committee Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, and the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee member Abdulrahman Mohammed Jamshir.

The conference will tackle two main themes, namely an Arab parliamentary vision on the strategic framework for Arab sustainable development, and ways to safeguard Arab national security against extremism and terrorism.
