GCC Ministers stress on unified Gulf media stances

Information and Parliament Affairs Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi stressed the concordance of Gulf stances on bolstering media role to protect Gulf national security, brotherly bonds and Arab coalition efforts led by Saudi Arabia to restore legitimacy in Yemen, as well as improving humanitarian situation of the Yemeni people.

This came on the sidelines of the meeting of GCC Information Ministers held yesterday in Riyadh under the chairmanship of Saudi Culture and Information Minister Dr Adel bin Zaid Al Tarifi.

GCC Secretary General Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani also participated in the meeting.

Al Hammadi said the Information Ministers emphasised on strengthening GCC joint media action to contribute to the consolidation of Gulf identity and bonds, maintaining security and stability, in addition to the unification of GCC media discourse.

The Ministers focused on the Yemeni file and human rights violations perpetrated by Huthi militias and affiliated troops. They also agreed on condemning the repeated attacks on the southern border of Saudi Arabia.

He added that the meeting’s final statement highlighted the fraternal relations bonding the GCC countries and keenness to activate the role of media in accentuating Gulf and international efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. He pointed out the need of unified Gulf media stances and defending Gulf security and social cohesion.
