Favourite Potentate wins

The favourite Potentate owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Brett Doyle won the seventh and richest race by half a length for the Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup for imported three years and upwards over 1,600 metres and worth BD5,000 in the 16th meeting of the season yesterday at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.

The race with a field of 10 in the fray was one of two for the Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup, along with two for the Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa and Al Nuwayef Cups and also the Bahrain Olympic Cup.

Second place went to the second favourite Steed owned by Raed Ahmed Yousif Al Boainain, trained by Yousif Al Boainain and ridden by Abdulla Faisal a short head ahead of third placed Marhaba Malyoon owned by Yasmeen Hussain Ahmed Aldailami, trained by Hussain Aldailami and ridden by Ali Hassan.

A further length behind in fourth was Muraweg owned by Fawzi Abdulla Nass, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by Hussain Makki.
