Man’s jail term upheld in assault case
Manama : A Bahraini man in his thirties has had his three months imprisonment upheld in an assault case. The convict is said to have attacked his mother and two sisters before verbally assaulting police officers, who came to their rescue.
“He was insisting on taking my car, but I wasn’t willing to give it to him. He attacked us, and I called up the police for help,” his mother told prosecutors.
The police officers asked the defendant to accompany them to the police station, but he refused. He finally agreed to go to the station, but he cast aspersions on them.
He also threatened them with his GCC national father’s ‘connections’. The mother waived her right to sue him, but the Public Prosecution decided to sue him as he profusely insulted police officers. He was held guilty on grounds of verbal assault.
