‘25k housing units in next four years’
Manama : Housing Minister Basim Alhamar has informed the Ministry’s determination to go ahead with its plan to build 25,000 housing units within the next four years according to the set up schedule.
He said in a statement yesterday that more than 13 per cent of the work had been done so far and that the housing projects under construction until the end of 2017 will not be affected by the plummeting oil prices. However, he added, “It is difficult to predict the projects to be carried out later.”
Alhamar also pointed out the Ministry’s keenness on the private sector’s participation in the construction of the housing units and on the Housing Bank motivation policies to cater for the growing demand for housing and reduce the waiting period.
The Minister added that the Ministry had been successful over the past two years to establish partnership with the private sector, which showed readiness to take part in implementing and developing the housing projects.
