Dubai trade : Bahrain ranks last in GCC

ManamaDubai’s trade with Bahrain totalled AED6.75 billion in the first nine months of 2015, which is 7 per cent of its trade with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, according to  statistics revealed by Dubai Customs.

Its total trade with GCC countries recorded AED96.19bn in the first nine months of 2015, growing by 8pc compared to the same period in 2014. 

Saudi Arabia is Dubai’s strongest GCC trade partner as it represents 46.4pc of Dubai-GCC trade. 

The other Gulf countries such as Oman, Kuwait and Qatar were also found to be stronger trading partners to Dubai in comparison to Bahrain, said the statistics report.

“The statistics reveal that KSA’s share of Dubai-GCC trade was 46.4pc, followed by Oman, with a value of AED18bn, representing 18.7pc. Meanwhile, Kuwait came third with a value of AED14.87bn, representing 15.4pc. Qatar bagged the fourth place, with a value of AED11.91bn, representing 12.3pc. Finally, Bahrain came fifth, with a value of AED6.75bn, representing seven per cent,” Kippreport stated. 

“The United Arab Emirates – under the leadership of President HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his brother, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai – has strong, well-established relations in all fields with Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of their brother, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation in Dubai, in a statement.
