‘Communication Centre’ launched

Manamanew ‘Centre for Communication’, which will facilitate the interaction between Parliamentarians and Bahraini citizens, was opened on the Parliament premises in Gudaibiya yesterday.

The centre, which aims to promote transparency in the Parliament, was inaugurated by Parliament Chairman Ahmed Al Mulla in the presence of Information and Parliament Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi along with MPs, other officials and citizens.

Al Mulla said it is part of the Parliament’s initiative to strengthen their relationship with the people, adding that it will give the citizens a chance to submit their proposals.

“The centre aims to facilitate direct communication between Parliamentarians and citizens. Researchers and university students will also be able to come here to gather any statistics and data, which can be provided by the Parliament committees. The visitors would also get publications by the Parliament in Arabic and English. This will strengthen and deepen the partnership between the community and the House of Representatives. Various societies as well as private institutions will also benefit from the direct communication” a statement from the parliament read.

Meanwhile, Bahraini citizens have welcomed the initiative to bring them closer to the government.

“Of course, it is a great idea; we welcome this initiative, as it seems to be in our best interests,” said Bahraini citizen Ali Al Tareef, “This will make things a lot easier for us and strengthen our position. It is a chance for us to follow up with our representatives about the election promises as well. We look forward to more initiatives like this.”
