Artists look for sponsors to spruce up public areas

Manama : group of volunteer artists committed to beautifying the public areas of Bahrain are exhibiting their works at the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) with the hope of finding a sponsor or group of sponsors.

According to Art Director Art Reach Group Rula Al Chorbachi, they are a group of volunteers with a mission to do volunteer work to beautify public areas in Bahrain through the participation of students and other volunteers.

“We have three installations – one on Budaiya Bus Stop, the second on Saar Avenue, a shaded bench, and the third an installation in Adaliya,” she said adding, “Now we have done a fourth one with the collaboration of students from Royal University for Women (RUW).”

She said that their aim was to find a sponsor to put up this project (mural painting at display) in a public area so that people could enjoy it. It can go in a street or a park as part of a garden with shaded bench.

To a query, she replied that they were happy to come up with ideas of suggested areas. “It should be an area either on the beach, a park or on a street if somebody wants to create a little shaded garden,” she informed. “It’s very important as it belongs to the community and is made by community and for the community.”

Lena Dajjani, Co- Director Art Reach Bahrain said that it took one month for them to complete the project.

Bodour Yaqoub, another Director said they needed around BD1500 to fix the piece of artwork and they were optimistic to get the sponsorship at BIGS.
