Asian docs jailed for negligence

ManamaTwo Asian doctors convicted in manslaughter case have had their three-month-in-jail sentence upheld. The duo, who were serving in a local private hospital, were charged with causing the death of a 17-year-old boy due to negligence.

The victim, who was suffering from appendix, was reportedly admitted to hospital. The hospital’s medical staff decided to conduct a surgery for the disease. They, however, operated him without conducting the required tests as the victim was found to be allergic to anesthesia.

The teen’s tummy suddenly inflated while his temperature dramatically jumped up and reached 43 degree.

The duo allegedly tried to cool his body to have his temperature reduced, but he died in the operation theatre. A probe was initiated into the defendant’s death and it was revealed that the duo were responsible for his death. They were earlier released on BD100 bail.
