KITESURFERS IN ACTION!

Manama

For the second consecutive year, kitesurfers from across the region are showing off their skills in the regional amateur kitesurf completion, 'Red Bull Kite The Waj' held at Amwaj Islands.

Sixteen teams have been competing against each other in the competition since yesterday. Kitesurfers from regional countries, including Oman, United Arab Emirates and Egypt are taking part in the event that will end tomorrow.

International Red Bull athlete and renowned free style Kitesurfer Ruben Lenten, who was judging and overseeing the event, said the aim of the event was to promote kitesurfing and to bring the kitesurfing community together.

“Last year’s event was a remarkable success. That is the reason why we are conducting this event for the second consecutive year," Lenten said.

Speaking about the Kitesurfing community in Bahrain, he said, "I find it to be very strong. I have seen kite-surfers who are so motivated and passionate, even though the sport is not very common here, which is awesome. "

"In this competition we are looking for quality and not quantity, so I would advice the competitors to make at least three good jumps. They have to use the body, mind and the gear to be together, this needs training in the water and off the water," he advised.

He also recommended kitesurfing to everyone, saying the age doesn’t matter here.
