Former Bahrain teacher dies in Pakistan

A retired Pakistani teacher, who taught in Bahrain for 15 years, has passed away at his hometown, DT has learnt.

AB Balauch, 68, died on February 20 at around 11.45 pm, of a heart attack, his daughter said.

He leaves behind his wife, two daughters and two sons, three of whom are married.

Mr Balauch taught Pakistan Culture at the Pakistan Urdu School, Isa Town and was known to his students as a caring and generous man. Before coming to Bahrain he served at the Lawrence College in Pakistan for 10 years.

In an email, his daughter Faiza Balauch explained that none of his children were able to see him at the time of his death.

"He was in our village with our mom for a wedding ceremony," she said in the email.

"Because of this, we (his children) did not get a chance to see him in his last few days, but what I heard from people is that he was quite happy during those days, he was his usual self, joking around, merry making. My mother told me, he talked a lot on the last day, he was narrating his life stories till 10.30 that night. He was telling them about his struggles as a villager and how he moved to the cities and around the Gulf. Before going to sleep, he went to drink water, my mother asked him if he was okay, he laughed and said that he was fine and he was just thirsty, and within a few minutes he died. I am sure Allah is happy with him. For there is no doubt that he was a pious person. He loved everyone, he never hurt anyone's feelings and he helped the poor. Beyond all that, he was a great father, he struggled for his children till his last breath. Allah is slowly giving me inner peace. And I am glad that I am the daughter of this great man. And that I have his name as my last name. I am sure he will receive paradise, and I am sure he is in peace."

Meanwhile one of Mr Balauch's students Ali Inayat remembered him as a teacher loved by all.

"He was a lovely personality and a professor in Pakistan Urdu School whom everyone loved," he said.

"It was always a blessing to have him with us. Whenever he used to enter the classroom the atmosphere used to change completely and everyone seemed to be happy. It was more of an edutainment session with him. Every soul shall taste death, may Allah grant him the highest place in Paradise and give patience to his family members."
