Fun, frolic at cowboy carnival in Muharraq

ManamaBahrain-based horse riders and enthusiasts took part in a cowboy themed event held in Muharraq governorate yesterday. Organised by Moments and Memories events in collaboration with the Muharraq Horse Riding School, the cowboy carnival was held on the Muharraq Horse Riding School premises in Samaheej.

The event was packed with fun filled activities including games and competitions.

Bahraini horse riders dressed in the cowboy costumes and entertained the crowd with stunts and acts.

Thousands of people attended the event. “By evening, at least 1,500 people attended. The event was a success as a great number of people turned up here and enjoyed the show,” Moments and Memories events owner Elizabeth Botha informed.

“The highlight of the day was the cowboy show, which was divided into three categories.”

“We divided it into the Arabian show, the Red Indian show and the Western cowboy show. Each of categories was judged based on various elements. How the horse-rider dressed, how the horse performed and the overall performances were judged. The winners were awarded with cash prizes,” she explained.

“Many families attended the event. It was a fun family day as all the activities were available. So many children had fun time in the play area here. For the parents, there was a craft market as well as other activities which kept them busy,” Botha said, adding, “This is a yearly event now but with enough support from sponsors we can organise it more frequently.”
