Woman disposed her foetus in toilet gets jail term
Manama : A court has upheld the jail term of a Thai woman who disposed her foetus in a toilet.
The defendant was earlier sentenced to 18 months in prison after being implicated in prostitution as well as for aborting the foetus.
The woman, who is said to have flushed the foetus after aborting it, admitted that the baby’s features were clear and that it was looking like a boy.
However, the woman did not hesitate to get rid of him after aborted him. She reportedly took pills to carry out the abortion.
The woman was arrested after she informed her Bahraini boyfriend that she disposed a foetus and she was tired. He, in turn, tipped the police about it and the officers arrested her.
Her stay status was illegal as she landed in Bahrain on a tourist visa, but it expired in 2013, according to the court documents.
She engaged in prostitution for a living, as per her confessions before the Public Prosecution. She was also handed down 10 days behind the bars for staying in Bahrain without a valid visa.
