Seminar on physical literacy for children held

A seminar on physical literacy for children was staged at the Education ministry’s hall in Isa Town with 850 physical education teachers from various schools across the Kingdom in attendance.

The seminar was organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in cooperation with the Education Ministry under the theme “A healthy community and active children,” conducted by international instructor and applied social psychology expert Nabeel Taha, who is also director of the BOC’s Sports Training and Development Centre (STDC).

Taha focused on the importance of promoting motivation, confidence and physical efficiency, while possessing the needed knowledge and understanding of the value of sports activities engagement, acquiring the skills and confidence that enables individuals to enjoy physical activity. He stressed the physical fitness influence in reaching academic excellence, cognitive skills, mental health, psychological, social skills, health habits as well as physical fitness.

BOC Sports Affairs Executive Director Abduljalil Asad asserted the committee’s commitment to apply this project, which is in line with the directives of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and committee president, and helps in promoting sports and behavioural concepts in the community.
