Court orders shutdown of eye clinic
Manama: The High Criminal Appeals Court has upheld the order of shutting down a renowned eye clinic.
The clinic was earlier ordered to be closed after the National Health Regulatory Authority found that it was administered by an unqualified person.
The clinic was opened by the latter’s father, who was an eye surgeon, but his son was only an optician technician. Thus he was not eligible to oversee the operations in the clinic, according to the court documents.
The infringement was recorded during a routine inspection carried out by the National Health Regulatory Authority on the clinic.
The man has been found to be introducing himself to patients as an eye surgeon. He was also signing on behalf of his father apart from operating the patients, despite lacking the required academic qualifications to do so, according to the court files.
